About Doctor

Suneetha Narreddy is one of the few qualified Infectious Diseases Consultants in Telangana and is committed to providing comprehensive care for patients with a broad range of infectious diseases.

She is certified by the American Board of Internal Medicine (ABIM) in Infectious Diseases. She has devoted her entire career to diagnosing, managing and treating infectious diseases and continually studies the latest treatments and new diseases affecting the globe. She has close to two decades of experience in the field of medicine and is currently working at Apollo Health City, Jubilee Hills, Hyderabad.

Dr. Narreddy had her initial training at Christian Medical College, Vellore. She then moved to the USA, where she did her Internal Medicine and super specialization in Infectious Diseases. She is the recipient of best research award for her research on complementary medicine use in patients with acute coronary syndrome.

Dr. Narreddy’s area of expertise includes nosocomial infections, infections in immuno-compromised host, HIV, complicated infections like fungal infections, multi drug resistant tuberculosis, H1N1, and travel medicine. She also works to ensure that safety regulations are maintained to prevent transmission of diseases in the hospital.

Tuberculosis

TB is a disease caused by a bacterium called Mycobacterium tuberculosis. The bacteria usually attack the lungs, but TB bacteria can attack any part of the body such as the kidney, spine, and brain. If not treated properly, TB disease can be fatal. TB disease was once the leading cause of death in the United States.

AIDS

AIDS (acquired immunodeficiency syndrome) is a chronic, potentially life-threatening condition caused by the human immunodeficiency virus (HIV). By damaging your immune system, HIV interferes with your body’s ability to fight the organisms that cause disease.HIV is a sexually transmitted infection. It can also be spread by contact with infected blood or from mother to child during pregnancy, childbirth or breastfeeding.

MRSA

Methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA) is a bacterium that causes infections in different parts of the body. It’s tougher to treat than most strains of staphylococcus aureus — or staph –because it’s resistant to some commonly used antibiotics. The symptoms of MRSA depend on where you’re infected. Most often, it causes mild infections on the skin, like sores or boils. But it can also cause more serious skin infections or infect surgical wounds, the bloodstream, the lungs, or the urinary tract.

Influenza

Influenza or flu, is a serious respiratory illness. It is easily spread from person to person and can lead to severe complications, even death. Each year in the U.S., influenza and its related complications result in an estimated 226,000 hospitalisations and anywhere from around 3,000 to 49,000 deaths.

Rabies

Rabies is a preventable viral disease of mammals most often transmitted through the bite of a rabid animal. The vast majority of rabies cases reported to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) each year occur in wild animals like raccoons, skunks, bats, and foxes. People that work closely with wildlife, veterinarians, and travelers are at the highest risk of exposure. Fortunately, there is a vaccine that is available to protect high-risk people.

Travel Medicine

Travel medicine or emporiatrics is the branch of medicine that deals with the prevention and management of health problems of international travelers.

Anthrax

Anthrax is a serious infectious disease caused by gram-positive, rod-shaped bacteria known as Bacillus anthracis. Anthrax can be found naturally in soil and commonly affects domestic and wild animals around the world. Usually, anthrax bacteria enter the body through a wound in the skin. You can also become infected by eating contaminated meat or inhaling the spores. Signs and symptoms, which depend on how you’re infected, can range from skin sores to vomiting to shock. Prompt treatment with antibiotics can cure most anthrax infections.

Adult Vaccination

Adult Vaccination is recommended for all adults. becoming an adult means leaving behind the trappings of our youth, but immunizations are not necessarily one of them. All adults need: Influenza (flu) vaccine every year. Td or Tdap vaccine: Every adult should get the Tdap vaccine once if they did not receive it as an adolescent to protect against pertussis (whooping cough), and then a Td (tetanus, diphtheria) booster shot every 10 years.

Fungal Infections

Anyone can get a fungal infection, even people who are otherwise healthy. Fungi are common in the environment. This germ is harmless most of the time, but sometimes it can cause a problem. A lot of people get fungal infections, but they’re usually easy to treat because a fungus rarely spreads below the skin

Nosocomial infection

Hospital-acquired infection (HAI) — also known as nosocomial infection — is an infection whose development is favored by a hospital environment. These are caused by viral, bacterial, and fungal pathogens; the most common types are bloodstream infection (BSI), pneumonia (eg, ventilator-associated pneumonia [VAP]), urinary tract infection (UTI), and surgical site infection (SSI).
